Flying Telephone Pole Blitz - Finished.
Well, less than 24 hours in the month. Guess I better start.
This is the Maquette kit of the SA-2 Guideline missile and launcher.
I also have several of the Airfix kits in the stash. Actually think I like the detail on the Airfix missile better but the launcher in this kit looks a lot more detailed.
Anyway,
Official start time was 00:30 (forgot the watch in the first pic).
And 30 minutes later we have this.
Simples, missile body is two parts with the fins molded along the connection. Additional fins (8 more) were added.
Heading back down to see how much of the launcher I can get together ready for paint. Then paint in the morning and final assembly later in the day.
Think I am going to skip the decals on this one. They look really good but don't have any for the Airfix kits and hoping I can actually finish the full SAM site one day.
Still debating on whether this will be an Egyptian site or North Vietnamese but leaning towards a desert finish right now. Will see what mood hits me in the morning.

Good solid start!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Flying Telephone Pole Blitz
Well, took a bit of a break to look at Facebook but got back to it and have most of the launcher done.
Not a great kit, lots of flash and soft detail and not looking forward to trying to align the deflector support with no positive alignment spots but saving that for after I get up.
Looks like I will have to glue the launch rail in a position as there is not enough grip to hold it. So, ready to shoot or level? Level will help hide the details but we shall see.
Still leaning towards an Egyptian unit.
Off to bed.

Slept through a lot of this Philip. Go man go. You have good tone.

Re: Flying Telephone Pole Blitz
Ok, hopefully some of you are still awake cross the pond.
I am down to 10 hours left in the day so pushing along.
First off looking at the launcher it needed a bit of putty (ok, it needed more than a bit but I am lazy and rushed). There is also a lovely seam running along the base of the launcher through the back.
So, let's try to fettle this out. I cut some scrap plastic to fit.
And managed to get them in the right spots.
Not perfect but will have to do.
The Egyptian missiles are all kinds of colors. Have seen then in silver, grey and a skyish type blue. So, have that rattle can of Luftwaffe Light Blue from my Mormon Mustang build handy and gave it a couple squirts.
Looks the part (sorry, missed the can of Mountain Dew to the right which is my beverage of choice).
Might just use the Desert Sand color I used on the Mustang too. Got to let the putty dry a bit more and give it a trim and hopefully spray the sand within the hour.

Charging along! Particularly good progress for something that appears quite fiddly.

Re: Flying Telephone Pole Blitz
Thanks guys, latest update. Paint on the launcher.
And added the engine color to the missile.
Got to give the enamel a little time to dry, then probably add a little Russian Green paint chipping and then try and put the thing together.
