Construction has been completed:

Image

It has actually gone together rather well, with only a minor bit of fettling required.

A coat of primer was the next order of the day:

Image

This highlighted a couple of holes drilled in the side, not needed on this build but perhaps provided for a different mark?

Image

They will have to be filled, I also spy from this picture that the wing root needs a bit of attention. Good old Macro. :-D

You could always go the whole hog and do some rigging as well as lozenges; those holes might be handy then :ha: :-D
Best wishes

I do like the Airfix FW190D-9 (second tooling), and you're making a neat job of it.

Started to get some paint on this:

Image

First I masked off the nose and sprayed it yellow followed by red as I find the yellow makes the red more vibrant. There are also white patches on the wings, tail and the fuselage for where the crosses and the insignia will go.

The wheels are being given the same treatment:

Looking bright already.
The hole under the cockpit is for filling the water-injection system, the one at the rear is a locating hole for a jack trestle.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Thanks Fred, although I have filled them in I didn't do a very good job as they are still visible. Now I know what they are I will not be too worried about redoing them.

With the blue on and the masking tape removed I realised I had made a basic error:

The bottom of the fuselage between the wings needs to be red.

I have used blue-tack to hold the undercarriage doors in place ready for re-painting and decaling.

With the bottom of the fuselage painted it was only a short hop and a skip to get this finished:

Image

Image

The decals went one quite well for home made ones, and the build overall has run quite smoothly. (Any hiccups were self induced). Here it is with the inspiration.

Image

I thought it would look quite wacky in this scheme, but it doesn't really look out of place.

First time I have done a What If ? build and it has been fun, I only wish I had the imagination to do a 'cut and shut' case like most of the builders on here are doing. One day......
