despondman's Knights Templar Hurricane **Finished**
Following an attempt by King Philip IV of France in 1307 to destroy the Knights Templar, and their official dissolution by the Pope in 1312, the Knights went underground. For over 600 years they acted in secret, based in Southern France. When Hitler invaded France in 1940 the Knights left France and established themselves in Northern Spain. There they established their own airforce to combat the Nazi menace, amongst their aircraft were 50 Hawker Hurricane MkIIs, obtained through undisclosed means. The paint scheme for their new planes was selected to mirror the distinctive white mantles with red cross worn by the Knights during the crusades.
The model to be used for this whif is the Revell MkIIC Hurricane:
I have printed my own decals for this build, something I have never done before. I am still not 100% sure if I will use these or print off some different ones.

The red cross in the Portugese markings is the Cross of the Order of Christ, which was set up by King Dinis 1 of Portugal as a renaming of the Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, aka the Knights Templar. The Order of Christ still exists, as do the Knights Templar.

Re: despondman's Knights Templar Hurricane
So here are the photos of the sprues which I took a couple of nights ago. They include a number of extra or optional items. There is the normal carburettor and tropical filtered version, two types of exhausts, bomb racks and bombs, external fuel tanks and even the glare guards used on night fighters.
First job as usual is the cockpit. The aerial mast and tail wheel are a moulded part of the fuselage.

Fuselage and wings completed. Decided to use the external fuel tanks, I reckon the Knights Templar would have needed them flying from Spain.

The fuselage and wings are now together and painted. Looks pretty plain at the moment.
Only a small amount of filler required at the underside joint with one of the wings.
