US Navy Harrier **Finished - at last!**

Post by fredk »

I'm gonna really, really regret taking this on...been toying with this idea for a while.

As we know, in the late 1960s the US had a team evaluating the Harrier and it was adopted by the Marines.
But the Navy also tried a few and sent them to sea for use in the Vietnam war.

An old tool Airfix Mk1 Harrier will be changed slightly and put into Gull Gray and White of the US Navy. I think I'll have to make this a quick build.

Probably start this tomorrow......or maybe later this evening......... or late tonite. Well, sometime anyhows.

I think the US has too many Harriers with our GR.7' and 9's.
I'm looking forward to watching this build as I have built this kit and although there are alot of bad reviews I actualy really liked it.
Best of luck mate!

Nothing to show yet. Some basic building started. Already one piece lost to the carpet monster; the small dome that goes over the end of the tail boom. Absolutely disappeared, eaten, consumed.

Oh, of course, you are right, I need not fuss about it then. :lol:

Hope to get a couple of photos up later. Came down with a wild bad cold last few days which knocked me out of kilter. Just couldn't a) be bovvered modelling, b) couldn't do anyfing much due to sneezing and coughing/spluttering.
Mind you, if I'd been building a Luftwaffe jobbie and could have put RLM paint up my doze I could make a very good job of the camo :shock:

If I do a bit of a blitz on this I should, hopefully, get this done before end time.

Earlier this week;

All tied up and fillered.

Earlier today; all masked up

and the white sprayed on the underneath;

There is a paint ridge along the masking line which I'll use as a wall to paint to when I do the light gray. Just have to wait a bit till that white gloss hardens up a bit.

Aye, good progress, Fred.

I'm sure the end date of the GB could be stretched for a stalwart chap like you. Let me know if so.

Thanks Martin.
There's only a few hours work on this left and I have two full days yet.

Maverick; thats Halford's Appliance White, in a rattle can, sprayed on. I've just started using it, having seen what it looks like on civie airliners.
