Ooh, that's something unusual! I never realised this was one of the Thunderbolt's roles before!

Just looked that up; great reading and a fantastic effort too, 938 aircrew rescued!
It'll be a great tribute to the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron

That has to be the first boxart I've seen with such deep panel lines !!! What is the plastic like ?

The kit is superbly detailed with very fine engraved panel lines John.

Re: Lancfan's boxted Lifesaver
The cockpit and engine were pre-painted on the sprues and are shown here separated just before I began assembly.
The assembled cockpit has just been glued down.
The fuselage halves have been glued together and the engine has been glued in place.

Nice start on them both of them David. If it wasn't for the razorback on this one, I'd just about think you were doubling up with your photos, obviously a well organised work system.

The wings have been assembled, the seams have been cleaned up and both wings have been fitted to the fuselage.

Re: Lancfan's boxted Lifesaver
At this point each kit will be built separately starting with the 8th AF ASR machine here. The tailplanes and bomb racks have been fitted and the cockpit and engine have been masked off ready for painting, the kit air intake splitter has been modified based on pictures and drawings and this is now ready to be painted and then fitted into the cowling.

Re: Lancfan's boxted Lifesaver
looking good David - It's interesting this intake splitter situation - If my Tamiya kit ever arrives I'm looking forward to seeing how they've done it.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...
