Marky's Hasegawa P-47D ***FINISHED***

Post by MarkyM607 »

Haven't sorted pics yet but this is a P-47D with several decal options, it is a combo kit with a A-10A Thunderbolt II. Although there are one or two options in the kit there is also another decal sheet with some more so decisions there to be made!. May try a painted scheme rather than the box art's NMF.

Here are the late in the day pics. I did look in my local model stockist for a Razorback P-47 but all they had was a single bubbletop P-47M!. Oh well, bubbletop it is!!.
Image
I will be doing this Thunderbolt, honest!.

Plenty of schemes to choose from, maybe one at least is not NMF!.

Have you decided on a colour scheme yet Mark? The one on the box would look good with it's red cowling. Over to you mate!

So many options on the P47. Looking forward to what you choose.

No decision yet although with the ease and speed of building I might have to hurry up!!>. Although there appears to be three or four options with the extra decal sheet the instructions only have two choices!. May have to look up the rest, but 'Juicy Lucy' seems an interesting option!!.

Certainly thought about that, although I was more in favour of doing 'Wulf Hound' a B-17 than a fighter. Still worth looking at though.
Also, further to my decal/instruction sheet bit earlier, I have found another sheet for the combo that show four more P-47 schemes so that deals with the options/only two on the instructions problem.
P.S. MY P-47 is a bubbletop rather than a razorback so will have to find one to really do that.

Current state of play for the P-47. Nearly done with construction although as expected I broke off the dorsal aerial post, thingy. Sigh.

I did box in the wheel bay although I followed the shape whereas someone else doing another Jug did it differently, probably me that's done it wrong!.

I wasn't going to either!, but my memory of the Airfix FGA.9 Hunters open 'wheel bay' and a touch of my OCD insisted I do something!!.

Flying along with this one Mark, and so long as you are happy with the boxing in of the wheel bay that is what counts. Unless you are doing it for a competition of course, in which case just ignore that last bit.

Actually I am happy with it!, it went together very well and looks nice once painted up. I'll not likely be up to competition standard anytime soon so no worries there!!.

P.S. thanks for that. Also I broke the tail wheel while taking it off the sprue, it was too small to glue and I didn't think it would stand much anyway. Luckily I found something close in the spares department so that's gone on!. Onwards....
