Beany's Academy 1/48th P-47D "Gabreski"

Post by beany »

This hit the doormat today:

Image

Price sticker on the box says Modelzone £25.99 - I paid £16.49 delivered, so I reckon I got a bargain.
Image

It doesn't look to be overburdened with detail and this will be an OOB build, so I should get it done in time, in spite of starting
7 day week, 12 hour nights for a fortnight at 9pm tonight.

Image

The side lettering is rub down transfers rather than waterslide decals for some reason, the rest are normal decals.

Cheers
Al.

Not seen rub-downs in a kit before; is it because of the stencil type lettering?

Do you get the pilot figure too as posed on the box lid?
Best wishes

Crikey, that must have made a racket ;-) I am tempted to venture into the 1/48 scale as my eyesight is deteriorating rapidly. It will be interesting to follow this to see how it well it goes together.

Looks like their 72 scale kit just scaled up, with different cowling arrangement :). I actually never seen any of them built. Will watch with attention.

That's my favourite bit done; I really enjoy cutting the parts from the runners.

Yes iggie - a nice little resin piece.

He looks a neat and very detailed character, even a little battle hardened!
Best wishes

Welcome to Jugland. That looks to be an interesting kit and challenging camo.
