Jssel's Salamander***Finished***
So here is my pick.
Box art:

Decal Sheet:
Lots of choices. Includes nose weight. No ill words as far as kit reviews. Looks like the right one for the build. Clever use of poly caps to show the engine cowls open or closed using separate assemblies.

Quality plastic!
Best wishes

Glad to see another being built. I'm doing a slightly cheaper Hobbyboss version.

Re: Jssel's Salamander
Good afternoon.
Made some headway on this project. Step one is not the cockpit but the stand for the engine. Six pieces that fit very well. Step two is the cockpit area and from what references I have it compares very well with all of the accouterments. I skipped ahead in the instruction sheet to see how things turn out and found that I could put the wing halves together without and harm.
I went to my paint locker to get my Tamiya XF63 dark grey and found I was out so off the LMS tomorrow for a bottle or three.
Pretty impressed with the engineering of this kit.

Just finished up a two day deployment for a nasty power outage about an hour from where I live. Should have a new update by morning.
Still haven't been the LMS for my RLM 66 yet.

Quiet evening on the bench last night. Pressed on with the main gear bay. Overall RLM02 (Tamiya XF22). One of the best features of this kit so far is the engineering. The pieces just fall in place with minimum cleanup required. Details need to be painted and I will wrap the oleo structs with Bare-Metal foil. The engine stand is painted Field Grey again Tamiya.

That looks like a nicely detailed kit and you're doing a good job on it so far

The Salamander has always fascinated me a bit. Can you imagine these things being flown by the Hitler Youth?! Shows you how desperate the Germans were at the time, though.

Finally have the RLM66 painting done. Pictures up after my Blitzbau.

Blitzbau over and back on task.
RLM66 sprayed on and white dry brushed. Interior is about ready for install. Lots of careful decal trimming on the seatbelts before sticking them on.

Cruisin' right along.
As stated before, there are two sets of sprues containing engine parts. One to display with the cowlings wide open and the other closed up. They are interchangeable using a set of poly caps and pins so it is supposed to be easy on-easy off. We will see.
