Sign-up and Chat

It's the good ol' YCNHTM Spitfire GB - any kit, any scale, any era, and mark, it's just got to be a Spitfire/Seafire ...
Runs 28 February through 29 March and your hosts are Lancfan and Paul Bradley.

I know. I was playing devil's advocate.
Nice idea, but I don't think we'd manage 80.

I'd be up for that. We'll need to make it official with a sign up in, say, September, so we can get it on the calendar. I suppose that we could really push for participation, given the anniversary, to get that many completions - 80 would certainly be a stunning achievement.....
Hmmmm! Worth a try, but I have my doubts. Instead, could we undertake to build one of every mark of Spit / Seafire? Might be more achievable . . .

Good idea, Martin - we could have a sign-up for each mark. The end gallery ought to be impressive.

That could be interesting - the builder could maybe do one or two Spits of a given variant, depending on time constraints etc.

Oooh, now we get into the fascinating question of variants versus marks. There must be at least 80 variants . . .

Mk IXc as Mk V conversion
MkIXc large cannon breech fairings (cbf) rounded rudder
MkIXc small cbf rounded rudder
MkIXc small cbf pointed rudder
MkIXe small cbf rounded rudder
MkIXe small cbf pointy rudder
. . . and what about small versus large carburettor intakes . . .

All are Mk IXs. Now that I've suggested this, I realise what a can of worms I might have opened. We could have a major debate just on what actually "every Mark . . . ." means!

Unleash the hounds! The Spitterati will be along in just a moment!

Martin

A 'representative' Mark. One MK1, one MkV, one MkIX and so on.
I fancy adding a 1b to my collection, and a XI

Good GB, lots of finishers - thanks Paul & David for running it.

If you could wrap any final comments and pix, I'll be archiving it Friday evening.
