Spit hat-trick, COMPLETE

It's the good ol' YCNHTM Spitfire GB - any kit, any scale, any era, and mark, it's just got to be a Spitfire/Seafire ...
Runs 28 February through 29 March and your hosts are Lancfan and Paul Bradley.

Spit hat-trick, COMPLETE

Post by Purplethistle »

Hoping to do 3 Spits for this GB. The main one will be the Special Hobby F21, seen here in a painting that I did of the one that is hanging from the roof in Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow. The kit decals are for RAG-V, but those can be easily altered to RAI-G :-D

Image

The others will be a silver Belgian MkXIV and a two-tone blue Malta Spit (hopefully!)

First one - The Smer Vb that I'm converting to a two-tone blue Vc of 603 (Edinburgh) Sqn, based in Malta 1942.

I'll look forward to your Malta aircraft, as I've wanted to do one for a while.

There were more photos, but the camera I have is pretty poor at close up stuff, the photos I've posted so far are the best of about 20!

Malta Spit gets it's blue coat(s) ...The first coat looked ok, but after the second coat I think I might need to rub some white or light blue pastel chalk into it to tone it down a bit! :frown:

The thing about the Malta Spits is that nobody knows for sure what shades of colours were used - they ALL look quite dark from the photos I've seen!!

Drop heavy hints near your birthday! you don't need a DSLR, I use a Nikon Coolpix compact for model pictures, it doesn't take up any room on the model bench and it has an optical zoom with a Nikon lens and a macro feature if needed. I light my pictures with a daylight balanced desk lamp and I use Paint Shop Pro to crop and size the shots for Photobucket.

Basically, I'm just looking at this guys jotter over his shoulder and copying his homework. The Spit I'm doing is the one coded C-4, pictured taking off from U.S.S. Wasp. I'm going to go with the colour scheme of solid 5-N
Navy Blue over Azure
