Lancfan's RAAF Fighter ***FINISHED***

It's the good ol' YCNHTM Spitfire GB - any kit, any scale, any era, and mark, it's just got to be a Spitfire/Seafire ...

Yep, that's a keeper! Especially like the mud/dust on the underside
Best wishes

Thats a bit nice David, I've revisited this after seeing it in the finished gallery, I'm inspired by your route to a Vc, may well follow. Like iggie, I'm most impressed by the mud/dust staining on the undersides, that does look good. Pastels? What/when are you going to do something with the unused IX fuselage halves, the Scot in me needs to know this. :-D

Steve, the mark IX fuselage will turn into either a PR.XI using Airfix mark Ia wings from the spares box or a mark IXb with the Airfix Vb wing from the kit. The dust staining was airbrushed on this one (but the same effect can be done with pastels) and the gun stains and exhaust marks were powdered pencil rubbed into the model with a cut down flat brush, the petrol stain over the fuselage was thinned varnish with white added which was then allowed to run down the side and over the wing, the surplus was wiped off at the trailing edge before it could do any harm.
