Work on my first Lancaster stopped play here for a while but that has now slowed right down towards the finish- as I left this build it was nearly ready for final assembly so things should move fairly quickly.

When looking over the pictures of this aeroplane the colours just don't look right, the upper surface grey is closer to Medium Sea
Grey than Ocean Grey, the undersurface grey is far too pale and the green is more akin to US OD41 so that is how I am going to paint this model, strictly according to the colours in the online pictures I have found. The undersides have first been painted in a 50/50 mix of Revell Aqua white and Light grey 76.

The demarcation line was masked up and the upper surface was next painted in Revell Aqua Light Grey 76 and my Aqua mix for faded OD41. I forgot to take a picture before the decals and varnish went on but when they had been applied and a coat of matt varnish had been put on she looked like this-

I see what you mean Daren, they worked when I tested the upload yesterday-another mess up for PB.
edit: just clicked on PB and the last two days worth of images for this build have vanished.

I have deleted the old images (now just place holders!) and reloaded them into PB, the revised links for the new uploads have been pasted into the posts- let's see if the idiots manage to delete these!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice work David, probably a silly question but what is the black feature that you have added to the bottom of the fuselage, half way along?

Not sure Chip, I assume that it is some form of modern avionic, a number of airworthy mid- to-late mark Spitfires now carry it.

NOW I can see things!

Looks great, that! The FoF Spit's colours have always puzzled me a bit. I remember seeing Kermit Weeks' Spitfire IX being restored before this one, and the colours were vaguely similar. It remained that way until it came to the UK for a short while, being repainted while based at Duxford.
