Re: Lancfan's Irish Air Corps Trainer
I have not really started on this until early this morning and as I did not get to the bench yesterday I am now desparately pushing the build towards the finish, this will be a close run thing and I will be counting the minutes as they pass coming up to the finish.
The wings were built up as per instructions, the holes for the outer .50 cals were drilled out as per the full size IAC aircraft.
This is the simpler of the two IAC builds it being almost OOB with kit decals. The next job was to pre-paint the parts where possible and then paint the cockpits before assembly. Here are the assembled cockpit interiors before the fuselage is built up.
I have built a few of these AZ trainer kits but this will be the first one with open canopies so the one change to be made before assembly is to cut away the entry doors, a separate entry door for the front cockpit will be made from Das Clay using the DIY moulds I have to hand. This is the assembled fuselage with the entry doors removed

Re: Lancfan's Irish Air Corps Trainer
The recess for the kit rear canopy has been levelled off and sanded smooth, the fuselage and wing have been joined together and the basic airframe is now complete- the model can now be painted.

Well, I'm not going to make it- it will be painted but that is all. I will finish the model under Aviation Modelling from tomorrow.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.
