Daz's Dambuster **DNF**

Post by DazDaMan »

I'll be doing this beastie:

Image

This will only be my second Lancaster build ever, so hopefully it turns out half as good as the first!

A classic kit with lots of rivets. :P
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Hmm. I have a "slight" issue here....

The two port-side tailplane halves are the same!

This has kinda buggered this build slightly! :frown:

There's still time to appeal for a spare unit in "Wants and needs" Daren, someone may have a spare OT Revell port tailplane.
Would ANY COMPLETE tailplane assembly do? Can anyone help Daren?

Just to double check, the two stbd tail plane halves weren't also identical but just glued together nicer ??

John - can't see any surgery on the starboard taiplane. Kinda stumped, really!

David - I'll post an appeal. I think I could get away with using a complete tailplane if one could be had. I thought about maybe making one with balsa?

Daz, I have a complete set of Lanc tail planes if you want them. They are from an Airfix Lanc rather than Revell but they're yours if you want them?. They are painted and assembled but they might be usable?. Let me know!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

IF you can fire them my way, Mark, that'd be great!

Thanks to Marky, some tailpane parts are en route to Castle Cogdon.

Might be a close call to get this one finished, though!

As things stand at the moment:
Image

The ailerons and flaps will have their tabs trimmed off so that they can be glued in the neutral position - not fussy about having them move! The bomb bay has been installed, too.

Tonight's job will be to install the flappy bits and attach the wings permanently to the fuselage. Hopefully.

Thanks to Marky's generosity, the Lancaster now has a complete tailplane. The wings are now attached.

I doubt this is gonna be finished in time.

I've got the wings and tailplane attached, and the engines have gone on tonight. I had hoped to get all this done yesterday, with a view to getting the fiddly bits done today before painting, but it's not gonna happen. Friday and Saturday are a wash-out, too, and I doubt much will get done on Sunday.

Sorry, guys.
