Build started, tail turret begun, as most Mark.VI's had the nose and top turret removed it is the only one I am building. Will have to fair over the nose turret, the top turret is more tricky as the fairing around it is part of the fuselage. Will have to hack that off and rebuild flat. I have also built the engine nacelles and then cut their noses off ready for the resin Merlin 85's. The outer nacelles are somewhat smaller than the resin so some padding might be necessary rather than just filler.

Nice. Unusual version to build Mark. Only 13 Mk.VIs were built I believe.

Yes, thought I would try something a little different!. I have been able to find about eight serials in my book of B.I/III's that were converted to Mk.VI's. Not many to find as you say!.

Ohhh that's a paddlin!

Would shimming work to match up the nacelles to the resin width-wise?

Thanks for that David, I've found a few of those although three or four seem new, thanks for looking. I think ND784 ended up having a Mamba engine grafted to her nose!!. There seems to be some difference in totals from sources, some say nine, some ten and another I saw said sixteen!!.
(Is it sad that I thoroughly enjoyed looking through that book for serials of Mk.VI's??).

I've tried adding shaped flat plastic to the sides, curved around a brush for a better fit, I'm now fillering them to death to get the faired in look!. Thanks for the idea though.

Oh yes, status so far, body together, top turret fairing removed and fillered. Nose bass wood fairing added and fillered.

That's a heck of a lot of filler!

Interesting term 'conversion' when used in connection with after-market stuff sometimes; more 'general concept, do the rest yourself'
Best wishes

O boy, sometimes I think it would be easier to mold your own parts than use some of conversions I have seen :). Remarkable work done and lots of it ahead.

Probably yes!. To be fair to Flightpath these are not from a conversion set but are simply Merlin 85 engines/engine fronts. It would be useful to have more information concerning the real life conversion, did they just graft the new engine onto the old nacelle back section or did they make new nacelles?. Did they change the existing section if it was retained? did they merge the two somehow or just leave it smaller than the engine?.
All the answers to these are hard to find, and although the Mark.VI is not totally forgotten, the rarity of them means there isn't much info out there that I can find!. Still, worth a go.

P.S. Haven't mentioned that most aircraft fitted with these engines seem to have removed the spinners from the props so I'm having to scratch build the prop centre section (times four of course!).

Being circular they may have used mark two Lancaster nacelles to which the universal engine pod could have been matched.
