The Blueberry Dart ***Finished***
Re: The Blueberry Dart
The 102 and 106 do seem to be two types who slogged away doing their duty without getting any glory or real recognition. You know 'Did a job for three decades or so, thanks very much, there's the door!'.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Tbf they aren't the most glamorous of looking aircraft so perhaps that's why the tend to be overlooked.MarkyM607 wrote:The 102 and 106 do seem to be two types who slogged away doing their duty without getting any glory or real recognition. Re: The Blueberry Dart
They're not that's true but they were the first (and only?) delta wing aircraft the US used plus they were pretty quick! The A7 wasn't very good looking but people still talk about that.TobyC wrote:Tbf they aren't the most glamorous of looking aircraft so perhaps that's why the tend to be overlooked.MarkyM607 wrote:The 102 and 106 do seem to be two types who slogged away doing their duty without getting any glory or real recognition. I guess this goes some way to explain why this has only become a footnote in history, "the F-106 never saw combat, nor was it exported to foreign users. Following the resolution of initial teething problems – in particular an ejection seat that killed the first 12 pilots to eject from the aircraft...." (Wikipedia)

Re: The Blueberry Dart
My Dad's last base while he was in the USAF was Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, MT. This was mid 70s through early 80s. When we first got there the MTANG was still flying the F-106 so I got to see them fly over all the time and there was always one on display during Big Sky Days (base open house). Maybe this is why the Dart is one of my favorite aircraft along with the EB-57 Canberra that the 17th DSES used (my Dad worked the Pod Shop for them).

Re: The Blueberry Dart
If you need a day or so to finish then I'm happy to grant it. No point in rushing as it's been a great build so far.

Re: The Blueberry Dart
Thanks for the offer but i should be alright. I just need to top up the white bits and I'm using acrylics so it'll be dry nice and quickly. The plane it's self is all finished and glossed, it is only missing some armaments!
