No rush it's along month although we do lose an hour when the clocks go forward.

Oh cripes, I'd forgotten the clocks going forward this month.....
I've got a 104, a Seafire and a Lanc to build, I'll never make it!

It's time this was built, I will take a break from Lancasters and Spitfires this weekend and build this Matchbox TF-104G in a Revell era boxing.

The decals look very clean. How old is the kit?

Toby, this was a reissue of PK-40 and it was sold under the matchbox label as kit number 40040 after Revell Germany bought the moulds. It was on sale 1992 to 1998, mine came from Kingkit and was still sealed.

Ah Kingkit. A good resource. I have bought many kits from them when they have gone for far more on eBay

The sprues have been washed and I am now planning the cockpit rework.

Still thinking about how much cockpit and wheel well detail to install here-work will begin soon.

Are you going to cut out the coaming? You can see very little once its joined up, I've just popped a couple of crewmen in mine.

I can see what you mean, here is my cockpit dry fitted to look at this very problem, it will be a light grey interior but even so there isn't much light getting in there.

Re: Lancfan's Starfighter build.
I have decided to fit as much of a full cockpit as I can, I find that the easiest way to make a floor and rear bulkhead for a cockpit is to fill the cockpit area with car filler and press the halves together, when the filler is rubbery separate the halves and cut away the floor and bulkhead with a modelling knife in situ before it hardens too much but work quickly as it hardens in minutes- leave it too long and you will end up sawing and filing the things to shape. The rough parts can then be removed from the fuselage to go hard. The picture shows the two cockpits at this stage dry fitted to the RH side, they will next be removed and properly shaped.
