Canopy closed! Now there is no escape but ejection! :) Little bit of work done, office finished, canopy on. Next step masking and cleanup.

Kitaholic wrote:Lovely looking kit and nice work on it. Tried google shopping for it and the results for Tanmodel were ............ err interesting to say the least  Looks like the only place to get it is from the list on their website
I would just ask Baris, he is a member of our forum. I do not know if the kit is available from anywhere else than Turkish websites.

Slowly progressing with Hurkus. Masked and primed with grey light primer today.

Not a perfect thing surface-wise yet but getting there.

That's a really impressive little kit. What primer do you use, please?

Model Master Acryl - Grey Primer , not the best one but works fine and I have a bottle to go through before going into vallejo primers :).

Thanks. I may try it because I have been trying the Vallejo ones and they don't seem to sand well. They scrape off too easily.

I had a little colorful accident with the Hurkus. I sprayed a gunze for black panels as well as were I expected to see more of unevenness. It turned out OK overall so I proceeded to put red on top of ... black gunze gloss. Not a good idea, "leathering" and trenches resulted immediately. I had to refinish the surfaces and then only today it was ready for the red to go on it.

Next point on the agenda will be creating masks using decals, masking the red and spraying first some grey primer then white.

Wouf Wouf, I actually made myself quite happy with what I did with the paint scheme of Hurkus. Decals were photocopied and each red panel was individually traced onto tamiya tape. Reds were masked and I airbrushed Reefer White. Went on quite OK, this time I actually little under-thinned so some sandiness resulted but it will be mostly dealt with. I was so worried about the number of white layers needed be put onto a red, should not have to be.

I had to repaint the canopy frame (brush) in red because I ... forgot to mask it though. Looks OK from few centimeters.

That paint work looks extremely well done. Your masking worked really well.
