:ha: Thanks Fred and yes they are a bit big aren't they?

Still the wings and tail are now on:

The gaps on top are mahoosive but the underside is nice and tight so that makes the filling job a little easier. And I think there is definitely a MiG in there somewhere ;-)

This is MiG, parts do not have to fit too well :). Nice work so far.

Thanks Marek  this week has been mostly a case of fill and sand:

The elevators are not a great fit either  :

They'll need attention once the glue has fully cured and the nose intake needs a tidy up too but I think I'm winning now.

So the rest of Sunday was spent on prepping the completed airframe and this morning I was able to move on to a first coat of paint; and ran into what could be a problem for a less fortunate modeller than myself. The colour callouts for the grey scheme ask for Humbrol Hu27, 65 and 141; now the first two I know pretty well as Sea Grey and Light Aircraft Blue but 141 had me stumped. The instructions called it Light Sea Grey so I had a quick check on the Airfix/Humbrol website and guess what? its one of the many now discontinued colours that Humbrol used to produce

Luckily (I said I was fortunate didn't I) my collection of Humbrol tinlets spans the best part of 45 years thanks to my father and myself so I went digging through the paint box and found one brand new (well unopened anyways, its at least 20 years old) tinlet of 141 sat in the depths of the box. 10 minutes of stirring later and it was as good as when it was first mixed in the 80's:

Proper smelling stuff too :ha:

Crikey! Those tailplanes look really wide. Are they the right size or is it the camera angle?

Thanks chaps  Ran into another little hurdle with the colour callouts for the camouflage scheme that ZTS provide; it doesn't appear to have ever existed  luckily a bit of internet digging brought up a later version of the 'three grey' air superiority scheme that was based on that applied to Pakistani F-16's.

As a result I have begun the repaint with Hu127 underneath and Hu128 on top:

Once that top coat is dry I'll mask off for the Hu125 and then move on to the extra bits.

Tom, I'm guessing you've seen this website http://www.paffalcons.com/gallery/f6/index.php going by your new colour calls, that scheme being amply supported by photos, & very much the one I want to do, hence my interest in your build.
Steve.
