Chip's Swiss Hawk***Finished***

Post by Molly-new »

My first build will be an Airfix Hawk, built using the left over Swiss decals from a Revell Hawk.

The sprues, including plenty of bomb options:

The colour scheme will be the red/white/grey option used at Emmen, 2000:

Well, I believe the 100 series is AMRAAM compatible. Don't know how much extra wiring is needed for Meteor...

Always had a hankering for building a few Hawks in non-RAF markings so really looking forward to seeing your build.

With the Easter break out the way I have been able to make a start on this. First stage was to paint up and assemble the cockpit area, including a black watercolour wash on the side walls and some painted tape seat belts:

The wash on the walls is not as stark as it looks, the flash has made it look more prominent than it actually is.

A good start.
Don't forget nose weight if you're doing wheels down.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Unfortunately life keeps getting in the way of my modelling, but I have managed to get a bit more done.

With the office in place, and heeding Fredk's warning, I located a place for some much needed ballast:

The fuselage join was not the best so I have added some filler:

Whilst waiting for this to dry I have joined up the wings and engine intakes:

If time allows tomorrow I hope to get the rest of the construction completed.

Check me out, no updates for ages then two come along almost at once. :ha:

The wings have been fitted, just a smidgen of filler needed here:

The bottom is a neater fit:

Coming together nicely. Which Airfix mould is that? Is it the earlier one?
