Yes, it was quite a good looking mud mover. Always liked the looks of Matildas, Valentines and ... Churchills. I know, strange one I am.

Re: Purplethistles (Waltzing) Matilda
That 6 pounder sounds a good 'un, pity they weren't put into service as the hull was capable of thaking a fair amount of punishment, (until the 88 came on the scene!) This is another 1/72 build that I wish I had done in a bigger scale. (I may yet get the chance, my LMS is having a closing down sale with 25% off everything and the Tamiya 1/48 Matilda, which has a MUCH easier wheel assembly than this one) would be good in a Seelowen diorama!

Coming together nicely.
I must admit I have moved on to 1/35 scale kits when dealing with Armour builds, the old eyes aint wat they used to be.Purplethistle wrote:This is another 1/72 build that I wish I had done in a bigger scale.

Re: Purplethistles (Waltzing) Matilda
My LMS is closing down and has 25% off everything, so I bought an Airfix Matilda to get some of the Aussie Divisional badge and fording height decals. Also some Aussie infantry to put around the tank in a wee diorama. Perusal of photos showed that Aussie Matildas did not carry spare tracks in same place as British, instead had metal "Tuckerboxes", so that has been altered with ones I scratchbuilt from the wee rectangular number tabs off of the sprues . Also added some mesh over engine compartment as defence against suicide jockeys with grenades.
Mesh is a piece of a photocopier fuser assembly that I had replaced yesterday at work!

Just adding the last of the fiddly bits and extra baggage, then I have to deal with a Jap m/g post, Skipper.
Should have her at the finish line in a day or two.

Bummer! The photos didn't turn out well ....again
I'll post them anyway as I might not get another chance in the next day or two. In fact I think I'll add another wee detail or two. I was really hoping to have this finished in time for Anzac Day.

I find my best photos of my 72nd stuff done on sunny but cloudy days.

Well, taking advantage of a shaft of sunlight and fresh camera batteries so that I could take my time with the photos, I tried again. Out of 27 photos today, these are the least semi-focussed. I'll call this finished and start looking for a better camera!
