Andrew's Falcon Martin-Baker MB-5 *Finished*

The one you have all been waiting for - Vac(u)-formed kits. Any subject, any kit, so long as the basis of the kit is vac-form (no, you can't enter an injection airplane with a vac-canopy). Started kits are eligible, within reason - this is a learning GB to introduce members the variety of kits, what can be accomplished with them, and to overcome any reluctance to add them to your modeling repertoire.
This is an extended GB, running 4 April to 31 May, and your hosts are Lancfan, SJPONeill, and Splash.

After a very busy exam week, I can finally get the masking done on the leading edges and fuselage band.

Then some medium sea grey paint underneath.

I now need more Sky and MSG paint!

cheers

I think that the four went under the wings for VTOL, so you are still missing one.

Brilliant work Andrew (or Martin) Oh, hang on, it's a Martin Baker and your sig says you're the Muffin man, so from now on I will refer to you exclusively as (Drum roll please):

Muffin Baker

Seriously though, I admire anybody who does vac-from but this is looking so good and it's an interesting subject too. Top stuff mate!

It looks a bit ugly closer up. :)

Here's the prop blur, with paint retouched. Flt. Lt Martin Baker now has blue trousers, a very pale face and a yellow Mae West.
The uppersides get a coat of Vallejo Model Colour Basalt Grey. I'm trying this out as a substitute for RAF Ocean Grey. It sprays well when slightly diluted with thinner. The tail section may need another coat.

Most of the detail is now on the pilot, and his face has had a fleshtone wash to make him a little less like Lt-Cdr Data.

The tail has been resprayed with the basalt grey.

I'm hoping to get some green on the upper surface this afternoon.

The green is on. The spinner is just tacked in place. I have cut a slot for a spare Matchbox stand underneath.

A bit on the sky band needs a touch up and a few places need disguising with weathering or chipping.

Let's just say that a camo scheme is a must - high speed silver would show my lack of skill up very nicely.

Actually, it is a nice kit and the thick plastic makes it little more effort than a limited run kit.

cheers

I also did a couple of paint touchups on the sky band. Almost ready for some decals.

Thanks Martin. The red nose is pretty impressive with that huge spinner!

I've just nabbed a Rareplanes Vindicator for a reasonable sum. Got FAA decals on a Yanks with wings sheet. Oops! :-D

A big pile of exams tonight means no modelling unfortunately.
