Messerschmitt 209

The one you have all been waiting for - Vac(u)-formed kits. Any subject, any kit, so long as the basis of the kit is vac-form (no, you can't enter an injection airplane with a vac-canopy). Started kits are eligible, within reason - this is a learning GB to introduce members the variety of kits, what can be accomplished with them, and to overcome any reluctance to add them to your modeling repertoire.
This is an extended GB, running 4 April to 31 May, and your hosts are Lancfan, SJPONeill, and Splash.

Messerschmitt 209

Post by fredk »

I went to my storage place, got a few models out and forgot to search out any WW1 types. I do however have this;

Which seems simple enough. Lots of either scratch building or searching thru the spares for this one.

I think my modelling standard is ok now and I can cope with this one.
I have the Me.309 as well, but its a bit more involved. Not till I try this one will I consider it.

Great choice - looks reasonably straightforward for a vac and will be a strikingly different take from the usual 109 shape.

I had to go thru my spares for bits for other kits so as I did I looked out a lot of bits for this. Main u/c doors, u/c legs, prop and spinner, supercharger intake, a resin cockpit interior. I know which kit to raid for the wheels.
The HobbyBoss Messerschmitt 109 G2 kit is exactly the same as their G6, and both have a tail wheel moulded to the fuselage, plus 2 spares, there are also 3 sets of main wheels and of course two canopies [open & closed, but one type, the heavy framed one]

Not yet. Now that I've finished a few for the ''Lesser Known...'' GB I can dig this out and attempt to do something on it.
The only thing I've done is to cast up a new cockpit interior.
I'll try to have the parts cut out, at the least, at the weekend.

That really is bare bones! But the surface detail looks fairly nice for a vacform. Good luck with it.

I've not done anything to this except gather together spare parts for the details. But all modelling will have to be put to shorter hours for a while as I've got a couple of big orders in and I really need to get those done.
