Re: David's 1/72 Airframe Martin-Baker MB2 - colour of seria
OOPS
I was about to apply a second coat of paint when I needed to add the exit vents for the cooling air from the engine space and the oil cooler (port spat). In my haste, I think the oil cooler ones are not in quite the right place but at least they're on there.

That's coming along nicely, good luck with the decals.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: David's 1/72 Airframe Martin-Baker MB2
Small but annoying last minute setback!
Decals are on but masking the bare metal area of the nose pulled off some paint right up front and centre!
Just need to do this touch up, paint the propeller, wheels and canopy frames and then do an overall topcoat. Fingers crossed.
Seeing the decals on there that I made for the exhausts, I realise I could have put those decals on before painting and then used them as a guide to drill the exhausts and that would have given me all the exhaust ports in a straight, evenly spaced row! I suppose I could do that now but I don't want to chance it on the last day.

Re: David's 1/72 Airframe Martin-Baker MB2
FINALLY!
There were quite a few last minute touch-ups. As shown earlier the masking on the nose pulled off some paint then the same happened at the edge of the green and silver on the spinner. I also painted in some of the green on to the underside serials which were scanned for the Planet Models instructions and printed on white decal paper. The green wasn't quite a match for my Tamiya paint. I am quite pleased with those underwing serials, they are far from bright white but that looks about right compared to pics of the real thing.
The canopy frames were hand painted (unfortunately they needed two coats) then smartened up with the wet end of a wooden toothpick.
Far from perfect but I am pretty happy with it.
Not bad for something I bought used for $3 years ago.
