Andrew's Accidental Vindicator
I seem to have started a Rareplanes Vindicator by accident.
I needed something therapeutic to do, like sanding, and a vac form kit seemed ideal.
I have Xtradecals for a Fleet Air Arm aircraft. A few bits, such as engine, pilot's seat, rear machine gun and undercarriage will come from an Airfix Devastator.
Here's the state of play tonight:

Yes, know how you feel - I accidentally started a Condor. These things can happen if you lower your guard...
Great progress so far.

More mindless sanding therapy
The outer wing sections and horizontal stabilizers are together, if a bit rough around the edges. The fuselage halves have had some primer sprayed inside too. I want to get the fuselage halves together before I start on the central wing assembly

That's a nice cockpit green, what paint and colour is it?

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

It's Vallejo Air Interior Green, sprayed over their Bronze Green Primer, which I think gives a nice overall hue.splash wrote:That's a nice cockpit green, what paint and colour is it?

Re: Andrew's Accidental Vindicator
Fuselage closed up, except at front, where I need to clamp it.
The central wing section panels are now being fettled.

Re: Andrew's Accidental Vindicator
Here's the state of play today:
The fuselage is together. The cowling ring will need some blending in. The engine looks miles better than the vac form part! The central section is stuck down. The outer wing section is just attached by a bent piece of plastic card, as I haven't checked the dihedral yet!

It's quite good as a build to have on the go when you just want to do some sanding and nothing too complicated.gnomemeansgnome wrote:That Chesapeake is coming along very nicely Andrew.
As I've also got a Vampire,HMS Victory and an Auster on the bench, I can rotate between things easily!
Vampire's turn coming up I think

On the whole no. But I have wanted to do the FAA Vindicator for a while, and I'm too "careful" to shell out for the Special Hobby kit .dwomby wrote:You really have caught the vacform bug, eh?

I will be building them when there's no reasonable alternative!
I have Supermarine 224 and Spiteful vacforms to do.
