"Classic" Airfix kits, loosely pre-Hornby, pre-RedBox unless the Red-box is a re-pop. Any Airfix kit, any scale, etc.
GB runs 1 - 31 May; your hosts are Sir T and TobyC.

This is a GB for "Classic" Airfix kits, which are loosely defined as pre-Hornby, pre-Redbox unless that Redbox is simply a reissue of an older kit. Use your best judgment, but don't push it - this is after all the home of the CBK.

This GB started from a thread here.

The GB runs from May 1st to 31st; your GBL are Sir T and TobyC who will answer any questions.

I'm going to build the 'New' Spitfire VB, kit number 02046-2, Airfix Products Ltd, 1974. The transfers are very yellowed now so I will also use aftermarket decals.

David.

Good Choice David and Welcome Aboard! - I think I built that one recently, It was a really nice kit.

Still undecided but I think it'll be either the Bulldog or Helldiver

Crumbs is it May already!!??! – WHERE on earth has this year gone?!

Hi all and a warm hearty welcome to the ‘Classic Airfix’ GB – woohoo!

As John said in his opening post – for the purposes of this GB, a ‘Classic’ Airfix kit is one that is Pre-Hornby, Pre-Red-box and probably pre-James May's 1/1 scale spitfire….(which is what got me back into modelling). Doesn't have to be OOB, you're more than welcome to chuck a load of AM at it, or scratch-build to your hearts content!

So the older the better (although Red-box re-pops are more than welcome), but I’ll leave it to your better judgments to decide what fits. The most important rule is to have fun..! So grab a kit, a tube of filler and some sandpaper and let’s get to it!

Regards

Stuart

PS - I’ll be out for a week and a bit yomping around Wales so TobyC has nicely volunteered to whip you all into shape while I’m away.

Hi Rob and Welcome aboard - they sound really good, it'll be nice to see a non-aircraft subject being built. I look forward to seeing it.

Not sure I can now!

Without looking, I think my two BTK re-pops have got the red card tops to their packets - will they qualify??

The other options would be fine, however.

Sweet.

I'll be in with a BTK Spitfire, Mk.IX Spitfire and, hopefully, the old 1/48 Mk.VB.
