Filler added to head to make the barnet, sleeve cuffs trimmed of buttons & stuff but shaved to flared ends to represent a leather bike jacket with open cuff zips. neck area shaved down to make 3 button t-shirt.

Re: Purplethistles 54mm Grenadier....Freestyled
I've watched again the video that I'm using as a reference for this (Free performing 'All right now' on Top of the pops, 1970 ) and realised that I need to change P.R.s tee shirt from black to white, that his trousers are barely flared at all (compared to Koss') and he holds the mic in his left hand. I've repainted the shirt, am preparing another arm and have added a bit more filler to the back of the head to fill out the barnet. I'm also adding some filler to build up the area beneath the long coat tails that I cut off. So, basically, I'm building a bum! (probably the first time that phrase has been used on this forum! )

I should have known I would have become the Butt of some jokes!
To make the leather jacket more 3D I've glued on shaped bits of masking tape to represent the open jacket and the flappy bits. The flagpole and bayonet scabbard are going to become the mic and stand.
The base will provide Koss' guitar body, the sword scabbard (once shaved down) will be the guitar neck and a cut off and shaped number tab from the sprue will become the guitar head.

Many thanks chaps, anyone thinking of doing something similar of their favourite muso? I'm happy to advise!

Onto Koss (Guitarist) now. Basically the same procedure as with Paul Rodgers (Vocalist), but with PROPER flares , The torso details shaved to make a shirt and waistcoat, and the kits coat sleeves shaved off and sanded down to make bare arms below the elbow. Filler to be added above the elbow to make rolled up shirt sleeves.

I think turning an Airfix Grenadier into Stevie Nicks might prove challengingPurplethistle wrote:Many thanks chaps, anyone thinking of doing something similar of their favourite muso? I'm happy to advise!

Koss gets started....
whilst Paul Rodgers is measured up for a mic stand. I can't tell from the video if he's using a splayed tripod base for the mic stand or a solid metal one. Apart from that it just needs final tidying up of the painting. (and maybe an eyebrow trim!)
