Next job was the paintwork.
I decided to avoid the problems of old decals and do something different by going for these soviet decals:
And I'm happy with the result.

Nicely done! Got fond memories of flying one like that on the Leningrad Front (in IL-2 Sturmovik, Forgotten Battles )
