I miss the 3-day week, power cuts & oversized plastic rivets.
.....ah, I know that feeling, most of the kits in this GB are bringing on a craving for Spangles, Rumba bars and Slade on Top of the pops on the T.V. in the background :)

I have decided on the standard RAF temperate scheme based on the photos here: http://www.eaf51.org/Photo_03_51_ICAF_Spit.htm.

Everything you ever needed to know about Italian Spitfire on one site, awesome.
Although the Italians received Spitfire Vb's & Vc's form various sources & in varying camo schemes, they repainted them almost immediately with the help of RAF maintenance units. So I think I am safe in assuming that RAF colours were used. Which is handy as that is what I have. :-D

Pictorial evidence is always nice to have:

So hopefully it will end up looking something like this:

Slow progress lately due to life commitments but I managed to get some time with the air brush this weekend.
I know it should be hard edged but I didn't have time to mask the camo pattern so I just did it free hand as best I could. This is the result ready for decals:

I plan to show the painted out RAF roundels under the new decals so a bit more free hand painting is required. Then on to the canopy, U\C & prop.

Thanks young Sir.

Got the roundels & Squadron badge on last night:

Now I need to check the decals stash for some appropriate numbers.
Then it's on to the final assembly. 8-)

Thanks mate, glad you like it.

This old Airfix gem is still a great kit to build. I have made a few Spitfires lately (have you noticed? ;-) ) so it is nice to do something a bit different with the markings.
Although I do agree that you can never have too many Spitfires, I think I will have a break from them for a while. Planning something big & brutal from the cold war next. 8-)

The Spitfire just needs the prop attaching and she is done. Pics to follow.

That sounds like a heretic to me :-D Where are the Spanish Inquisition when you need them.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Just had a quick count and I am down to my last 51 Spits. Might try and get it down to a half century before I take a break then.

I am calling this one done:
