Don't worry, Fred, I'm sure you'll find something.

I've just dragged the Airfix kit out of the wardrobe....!

Hope I'm not too late for this one, I've an Airfix new tool Mk I waiting in the wings with some Kora Finnish Air Force Hurricane decals, one of the options is for a ragwing.

Some time ago I read that early Hurris were painted in different camouflage patterns for the aircraft ending in odd and even serial numbers. Now that I need to check on that info as I'm going to do a different scheme from the kit one, I can't remember where I read it. Anyone else know about this?

There were actually 4 paint schemes; A, B, C, D.
C & D were rarely used.[Seen mostly on Fairey Battles]
Hurricanes and Spitfires were finished in A and B schemes. B was a mirror version of A.
In a collation of info a friend and I found that on the most part even numbered Hurricanes were painted B scheme and uneven numbered were A, but it was A for even numbered Spitfires and B for uneven numbered.
The number is the airframe number, eg P3886, V7118
By mid summer 1940 all Hurricanes and Spitfires were being painted in only the A scheme. Early machines already in B carried on in B scheme until a total repaint was needed.
The A scheme is the one with the port forward wing root green, and the big V shape in green on the starboard wing. B scheme is a mirror of this. C was A with the colours reversed, and D was B with the colours reversed.

As is often the case, though, it wasn't always 100% adhered to. Spitfire N3200 is painted in the B scheme whereas it should be the A, and N3277 is painted A when it should be B!

Most helpful and greatly appreciated, chaps.
I now recall that it was on some Belgian Air Force site that I read this and it applied to the Belgian hurris. Will go with the A scheme.

Time to wrap this up; I see 11 completions out of 13 starts - very good.

I do not see 11 postings in the Gallery so please get caught up so I can archive this.
