despondman's AZ Model's Hurricane MkIV **Finished**
I am going to build a MkIV Hurricane by AZ Models.
There are markings for 3 aircraft, I am going to do the bottom one of the 3.

Nice choice!
I dunno about the Hurricane, but the AZ Spitfires I've built have been good.

Sprue shots and instructions. In addition to the Rockets for the MkIV the kits also contain Anti-Tank Cannon for a MkIID, drop tanks, and a four blade propeller for a MkV (of which there were only ever two). I know there are multiple AZ Hurricane kits, these parts are obviously used for more than one version.

Looks like a nice kit, Dman. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with it.

Re: despondman's AZ Model's Hurricane MkIV
So far I have only done the cockpit, there is a level of detail on the side-walls but overall the cockpit does not match the new tooled Airfix Hurri. There are no location pins and fixing the instrument panel where it looks like it should go is no good as it is in the way of the joy-stick.
Re: despondman's AZ Model's Hurricane MkIV
Yeah, the Spitfires I've built from them also have no locating pins. Other than that, they went together OK.

Are these parts resin aftermarket parts or are they included in the kit?despondman wrote:

Include in the kit M-N.Molly-new wrote:Are these parts resin aftermarket parts or are they included in the kit?
Fuselage now complete and wings together with some nice detail in the wheelbay. The kit is ever so slightly rough around the edges in places but overall not bad.

That looks good so far. I'm very impressed with those rockets & launchers.

Re: despondman's AZ Model's Hurricane MkIV
Actually a slight problem with the rockets. The fins on them are so thin that after cutting them from the base I ended up with 3 rockets less 1 or more fins. So I am going to use these rockets from the new Airfix tooling of the Hawker Typhoon.Old_Tonto wrote:That looks good so far. I'm very impressed with those rockets & launchers.
I also had problems with the resin radiator which was in 2 parts which were not a great fit, as a result a bit of filler was required.
Painting next.
Re: despondman's AZ Model's Hurricane MkIV
Hi Dman, you're battling it into submission!
IIRC, the radiator of the Mk VI had a belt of armour around the outside of the radiator bath, so the front part should sit a little higher than this. Or was it just a lousy fit?
regards,
Martin

Didn't know that - which probably means I messed up somewhere. Ah well - it is what it is now.Martin R wrote:IIRC, the radiator of the Mk VI had a belt of armour around the outside of the radiator bath, so the front part should sit a little higher than this. Or was it just a lousy fit?
And now she is painted and decals have been applied. I have to say I do like this scheme, it does make a nice change.

Finished. This is an okay model, but needs more effort than I put into modelling to get a really good result.
