Lancfan's Belgian Hurricane ***FINISHED***
This model will be of a Pre-war Belgian aircraft using this kit with Belgian AF decals taken from the A02067 kit.
The slip wing build has slowed down as I paint it so to fill in time I began work on this, my planned second model.
The washed sprues ready to begin.
Following the instructions the wing was assembled first, the cockpit was also pre-painted.
The fuselage was assembled next.
Both assemblies ready to be joined together.
And assembled
David.

Re: Lancfan's Belgian Hurricane
Good progress David. I like the Hurri wearing Belgian markings.
How did you find the fit of the wings?

Re: Lancfan's Belgian Hurricane
This isn't the first one I have built and it does fight back a little due to the intolerant tolerances of Airfix new tools, I found that the wheelbay parts are a little too tall and if you carefully block sand or file down the joining faces on top of the wheel bay walls a little before you fit the top wing half it does fit together better but will still need a slight tidying up at the tips after assembly.

Re: Lancfan's Belgian Hurricane
Good start David – So just out of interest, having built both the new tool and old tool Hurricanes back to back – which would you say is the most fun to build?
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...

Stuart, the parts fit of the old kit is better than that of the new offering but both need some fettling to build properly.

Re: Lancfan's Belgian Hurricane
so about the same then? Interesting. I'm rather fond of the old tool kit but I think I'll get myself a new tool to try out!lancfan wrote:Stuart, the parts fit of the old kit is better than that of the new offering but both need some fettling to build properly.

Re: Lancfan's Belgian Hurricane
The Dark Earth base coat and Dark Green disruptive were applied next to complete the basic colour scheme and the decals were then applied with the airframe which was then matt varnished, final assembly is all that now remains to complete the model.

Re: Lancfan's Belgian Hurricane
Those roundels really stand out. Almost a waste of paint to camouflage it.
