Thanks so much, David! Yes it was a fun build and I am pleased with how it turned out, though I think there are a few more nitpicky things left to do yet. These subs are next on the stocks and am looking forward to finishing them so one can see the size difference as the two are both the same scale. It is pretty extreme, to say the least....

What scale is the u-boat, 1/400?

Both boats are 1:350 scale. A size comparison when I am finished will be amusing, I think. A peashooter sitting next to a sledgehammer.

Pecking away. Both kits are pretty basic, but the Kursk will be a putty queen. The Type VIIC is not nearly as demanding, but I think I am close to burning out on little bits and pieces. Going to either take a building sabbatical after this or tackle a larger scale subject. Anyhoo.....

More pics of the state of play of both submarines. The Revell Type VIIC is inching towards the finish, but the ZVEZDA K-141 Kursk is a rather more monumental project. Anyway I ran out flat black paint which will have to wait till tomorrow, plus some other colour ( I don't know which one yet) that would better approximate an oxidised paint finish that is probably more coal black or charcoal. I am thinking that if I use enough isopropyl in the airbrush as thinner the black paint will come out that kind of finish......

The U Boat does look suitably predatory! Nice job.

Thanks! Yes they are very nasty looking things but I still dig the shape of them. Just a wash, rigging, floor wax and dull coat to do and I should pronounce it finished. I hope to have the Kursk wrapped up by this weekend as well. Four tubs for a single Group Build will help wash away the shame of not having done nearly so well with past ones, I hope.

Well I sort of have the Kursk nearer to the Type VII in terms of almost finished. I hope to be done bu tomorrow. Does that still make the deadline I wonder.....

Well, I managed to lose or misplace the decals for the Kursk and at this rate will not be able to complete the rigging on U-81 either, so if I may I should like to declare them done for now.

Cheers. Yeah, now that this Group Build is done, I have to say that eventually they will be 100% done at some point. On to the next project, though........
