Sign-up and Chat
Re: Sign-up and Chat
We're half-way through and things appear to be going OK. Toby has finished, Andrew*, Mark & Daz are very close to finishing if not already there, David has just started but will probably have finished by tonight and I'm contemplating some paint. At the same time, Paul is AWOL on holiday, the dirty stopout. So, some great work being done here, but it still feels a bit quiet. If you have encouraging comments to post, then please feel free! Go on, spread the love around!
BTW what's the collective view on the kit?
regards,
Martin
* and he's got paint on another!

Re: Sign-up and Chat
My view of the kit is that I've always liked it in all three forms, it has a few minor issues and the wheelbay was wrongly imagined but it was a cheap, simple kit that built up very well- a perfect novice build and an ideal subject for DIY improvement. I dearly hope that the rumours of the tools being scrapped is wrong.

Yep, cheap and cheerful would have been my summation. Major shapes (apart from the thickness of the wings) about right, but some interesting things 'down in the weeds'. It would indeed be a good novice build; it might keep my son's attention for the ~1hour it would take to throw together (I see the new tool Airfix Spit Mk IX as another in this category). However, the SF's beginning to get a bit pricy second hand (depends what pricy is to you, of course; but £5 + postage, OK for me; £10 + postage, forget it!).lancfan wrote:My view of the kit is that I've always liked it in all three forms, it has a few minor issues and the wheelbay was wrongly imagined but it was a cheap, simple kit that built up very well- a perfect novice build and an ideal subject for DIY improvement. Anyone else?

I'm trying to work up the energy to wonder if I think about resenting that remark.
No, I can't be bothered.....
Anyways, you guys can have all the fun watching the train wreck as I try to blitz my three builds next week........

Sorry about not finishing. I didn't factor in 3 days of unwellness and shakey hands.
Upon another subject; how does the PM kit compare to the Frog one? I fancy doing another Sea Fury - but which kit is 'better'?

No problems, Fred. In future, if you can, just keep the GBL apprised of what's going on. We don't want to hassle people unnecessarily and, if circumstances warrant, we have some leeway on extending the GB.fredk wrote:Sorry about not finishing.
