So an early coat of pink, as an undercoat for the Yellow on both models, was swiftly followed by a coat of Yellow on '661's undersides and for the trainer bands on the T.20:

Next up: camo on '661!

Great progress, Paul! I like the richness the pink undercoat gives to the yellow.

Indeed - an it means that I only needed one coat of Yellow for good coverage as well.

Cheers, guys.

Andrew - this is blitz-like, it has to be said....! '661 is now camo'ed up:

Image

This is Xtracrylix Dark Slate Grey and darkened Dark Sea Grey representing the Temperate Sea Scheme that this airframe was painted in. There's a great colour photo from the Aeroplane Archive that contradicts the published references that claim Dark Green and Ocean Grey (which is unlikely for a naval aircraft anyway). The photo of my model looks as if it is painted in those colours, but that's an illusion caused by the poor lighting in my den at the moment! TSS was Dk Slate and Extra Dark Sea Greys, but EDSG looks too dark in this scale, so I darkened DSG instead. Should have added a little dark blue as well, perhaps.

Will be masking up the T.20 in a mo to get the alu coat on.

I feel I have a fighting chance of pulling this off....

:ha: Ah, but did you go to Hawaii for two weeks holiday..........

'661 is nearly there:

Image

As you can see, there's some touch-up work on the paint to do, as well as adding the fiddly bits, but I am hoping to get it done this evening. It'll then just need a matt varnish coat to truly finish it - that will have to wait until Thursday, when I'm off work.

As you can also see, the T.20 is not close to being done and probably won't get finished until Thursday.
