I'm looking forward to seeing this done, it looks far better than a mere whif.

Having been sleep deprived for two nights running, I didn't trust myself to doing anything complicated today

So I put a touch of silver on the exhausts, as a base coat.

This is shaping up very nicely. Would be easy to mistake it for a Thunderbolt now with that scheme on it.

Yup. The tail markings are not dissimilar to those of a Jug

I actually used a SEAC Hurricane to get the white stripe positions :)

In this alternate history, SEAC used Martin Baker MB-5s instead of P-47s. Saved on the old-lend-lease obligations!

Starting on the undercarriage. I nearly fitted it the wrong way round completely.

See Martin, always an opportunity to make a blunder :ha:

Nearly? But you didn't take the opportunity. Doesn't count!

"Nearly" reminds me of the British PoWs baiting Vogel, the camp commandant in Ripping Yarns "Stalag Luft 112b", about him not having the guts to be captured.

V: "I voz nearly captured once!"

PoWs: "Oh, reallllly?"

V: "Yes, I voz standing next to a man who voz captured!"

PoWs: Howls of derision various: "My granny was captured, honest!", "my mum knew someone who was captured once", etc.

V. funny.

regards,

Martin

The canopy has been masked and gone for painting. Meanwhile I have attached the undercarriage bay door covers.

I made my own, as the originals are a bit on the chunky side

Sorry about the funny colours with the flash photography tonight!

Now having Matt varnish applied to hide the Pledge used for the decals.

All systems go, except that I have put the canopy "somewhere safe"
