Simmer down...Some pics of the state of play for the Junkers. This will be my last Group Build. Never was much of a deadline person anyway.

Not the best images of the build so far. Something is wrong with my camera and the pics are somewhat grainy with horizontal lines. Not sure what it is, but it makes them look like stills from an unrestored 1970's documentary. I am building as much of it before painting as I can, and there may be a fair amount of filler going in, although I hope not. Some futzing around left to do yet before I bust out the airbrush to deliver the various shades of aluminum and aluminum tinted with gun metal and some kind of bronzer too for the varying tones.

A bit more pecking away at the old '86. I fitted the flight deck/passenger compartment into the fuselage halves and closed it up, only to be presented with a nasty and noticeable gap both top and bottom. So, I have puttied it and will sand and fill till I see no seam. The engine nacelles have been partially painted and assembled while I try to think of a way to finish them and be able to paint around the airscrews once they are on the wings. The cockpit glazing has been masked off and primed with flat aluminum. I will attach it when the whole airframe is ready to paint. Fins and landing gear partially painted as well. Probably more puttying to be done and then I can get on with finishing the smaller parts. I hope to begin airbrushing the main paint scheme by either tomorrow or Friday.

More pics of the build. Had to go splurge on another tube of putty. This model is a sponge for that stuff, seriously. Next up will be puttying the wing joins as there are some considerable gaps at the wing roots. All in all this is a rather arbitrary and clumsily thought out kit.....After that rigamarole I can get on with the rest of the airframe (engines, those peculiar trademark Junkers flaps, tail etc.) and MAYBE get on with the airbrushing before the weekend is out.

That's coming along nicely :) Particularly given the amount of filling you're evidently having to do.

I'm loving the vintage digital vibe of your pics 8-)
Is it fluorescent lighting you have? Interfering/conflicting with the camera somehow?

The vintage vibe of the pics is due unfortunately to some malfunction on the part of the camera. I have owned it and used it for over eight years and up till a couple of weeks ago it worked quite well. Hopefully it is an easy and cheap problem to fix. In the meantime I work with what I have. All the lighting I use is if the good old fashioned natural or incandescent variety. As for the Junkers, I think it is almost ready for paint. Thanks for tuning in.......

Getting there......airframe has all the breakables attached, except for canopy mounted antenna and landing gear which will go on after painting. Eschewing the use of a rattle can, I will mix up some Tamiya flat aluminum and use my Paasche airbrush instead. Afterwards I will try to shade various parts of the airframe with washes.....

With other commitments I am not sure I have time to get as far as decalling the Ju 86. But build and paintwise it is done.
