Just my luck. My laptop crashed this morning and so using a newer one. It has Windows 8 nd I have been using 7. It will take me longer to post my build than actually building it.

Well I have a few days in OTU working up my readiness.

A good first weekend, I wish I could have involved myself more but I was embroiled within a complex and long planned M3 re-engining project. The BMW E36 anti-theft system requires that you not only replace the engine but most of the wiring loom and control electronics too. Nightmare. One day this car might actually turn a wheel. One day…

I shall endeavour to be more vocal henceforth. It is, after all, the roar of the crowd that makes this such a great event. Blitzbau is comedy modelling. It's a pure distillation of the joy of the hobby and you get a real sense of achievement and camaraderie at the end of your stint.

OK, think I'll try my first Blitz when I get home tonight. This is the point where I should

a) Carefully assess which kit will build without time-consuming fiddling, which paints I have in acrylic and making sure all the other relevant bits are ready and useable

or

b) Dive right in yelling "Damn the torpedoes!!"
Is this your sanderling?.

Option B. Bring beer. And food. Preferably deep fried.

My first blitz was a Hasegawa 1/48 F-104G with resin cockpit. I made it over the line, barely. Planning is seriously over-rated.

A gentle nudge here gents. Don't forget to post glamour shots after you "de-compress" from the build.

Apologies for not trying another Blitz,*
I'm really, really tied up preparing a load of stuff for a special Summer Fair at Carrickfergus Castle this Saturday, 22nd. Normally my group are the invited show, but this year we've taken over the complete organisation of it.
I'll try to blitz a kit next week, from the 23rd onwards.

*Irony; Last Sunday I was up from 00.30 or so with a really bad cold. Kept waking up with the coughing. So I decided to start a kit, as a Whif.
Had it finished by 23:45! Without really trying to.

Jeff; a question. I didn't get my 109G done within the Blitz time, not even close. Does it still qualify to go in the Gallery, or is it excluded?
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Hi Fred. The gallery is for finished, successful Blitz's. But do finish up and add it to either the Aviation or Workbench areas.

And no need to apologize for not finishing more than one blitz. It is hard enough to finish one. Very rare if I do more than one as life can get in the way.

I was going to give this a go, as my first Blitzbau. However two things concern me, one is that I still have tiredness from my Pituitary condition three years ago, so don't know if twenty four hours awake would be possible, and two I don't have much luck putting music vids online. Not something I've got into!. Would it still be a blitz qualified build?.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

If I can get a clear run this weekend, I'm looking at blitzing this:

There's definitely no requirement to be awake for 24h. Last blitz I did, I got plenty of sleep. If you use daytime efficiently there's no need to stay up all night.

You can just copy the youtube link into your thread for the music videos. I still haven't figured out myself how the embedding thing works.

@Marky

As VV states there is no requirement to remain awake for 24 hours. The 24 hour period is to complete the model. Or you can divide it into two 12 hour sessions but within the 24 hour period.

The clock of course is mandatory but weird mugs, music videos, cartoon character partners and blitz food pics are all part of the fun but not required. We had a former member who did his blitz in video form so we could watch live.

To post a youtube video use this format: Bracket youtubeEnd Bracket Link Bracket youtube EndBracket The link is what follows the = sign.

So I sense a two 12 hour sessions here so go for it.

Good luck and I hope you can join along.
