OK, a minor backset last night, as a small crisis got me away from the bench until.. well.. now. So I've lost some time, but heck, that just adds to the fun, right? Four hours? I can do this...

Three hours to go..

Image

The office.. only a tiny bit of touching up to do in there.. also dome dry brushing etc. I was fully expecting the IP decal to come off with the masking!

Image

Floats are ready and rigged (except I forgot to add the rudder fins until it was painted.. oops)

Image

You can't really see it in this light, but I've brushed Revell Aluminium over the fabric-covered fuselage to provide contrast to the metal parts (which were sprayed with Airfix Metalcote Alu). If it looks crap, it's easily rectified.

Image

other bits, including the two wee pirates.

Image

Rudder ready for stripes. I don't reckon false French stripes applied at sea would have been all that neat, so luckily

a) I don't have a suitable decal so will paint them on myself
b) I'm not neat either.

Image

So, that's where we're at. It's all going according to plan which means something dreadful is surely about to happen.

Worse than the somewhat senile Phoebe (dog) producing a lake of wee on the floor downstairs five minutes after refusing to go while outside, that is

Two hours.. EDIT ONE HOUR! i SHOULD LEARN TO COUNT

Of course, when deciding to paint on stripes, I forgot that I have no acrylic blue, so anxioujsly waiting for enamels to dry

Image

Started putting a bit of rust/weathering on the floats at the waterline. Citadel Typhus Corrosion wash is fantastic fun, but it's easy to get carried away and make something look like it's been at the bottom of the sea for ten years. It's subtler than it looks under the harshness of the macro setting.. I gave it an inital run of very dilute wash, later on I'll lightly touch it up with darker spots.

Progress, progress

It's hilarious how quick one can go from ambling on, loads of time, to all out panic. BLITZ!

Nice work. I like the water line on the floats.

Classic blitzing. I would never have believed that it could be done with that kit, top work and it looks fab.
Nice touch with the waterline weathering.

Thanks, gents. I'd like to have improved the weathering a little, but time got away from me..

Looks great, and I've never seen one in French markings. As Jeff said, not the easiest blitz material; great result.

Thank you! Apparently this is how the Hilfskreuzer raiders were tricked out, although how a couple of teeny roundels are meant to fool anyone when a plane has such a distinctive shape is beyond me.
