Fred's Final Foray; Another 109G6 **Finished** 17.5 hours
Another Messerschmitt 109G6 from HobbyBoss.
This is their boxing of a G2, which has exactly the same parts as their G6 boxing.
Markings will be special ones for this. I'll put a photo of these on soon.
I hope to start this after lunch on Saturday 29th.

Excellent choice! Looking forward to the scheme, because I kind of like the one on the box art.

This will be done Czech markings, of the National Uprising late in WW2.
Starting later than planned. Aiming for a 7pm start.
Local plods gave me little sleep last night. They came in force to the flat [apartment] above me and blattered the doors etc. Kept it up for several hours from just before dawn cos there was no-one at home. Turned out they were at the wrong address. I got back to sleep when they left, then slept late-ish.

Re: Fred's Final Foray; Another 109G6
These are the markings for this one;
I started at 7pm.
First thing was to cut up the frames and reduce this to just the parts required;
From past experience, a few spares were dug out of the 109 drawer; The kit's breech bumps don't fit well and are for a late G version so a few spares were tried for fit;
HobbyBoss must use this same wing for their G10 kit as the wings have the location area for that version's wing bumps;
This had to be sanded down and wheel fairing bumps added; these are bit over sized so I'll sand them smaller;
So, with nearly two hours done, parts cleaned up, some have an undercoat of matt black. Cockpit is nearly ready, painted dark grey, with an i/p attached, just need some seatbelts.
I had to block fill then put filler on that on the location holes for the underwing guns and droptank mounting.
On the last one I left the exhausts off till near the end; that doesn't really work, so they'll get put in proper this time.

Very nice! I really like the markings, and you made quite a bit of progress for 2 hours. You'll have this done before midnight!
Re: Fred's Final Foray; Another 109G6

Main bits assembled and a coat of paint on the underneath;
I'll let this dry and things harden for a while before I continue.

Re: Fred's Final Foray; Another 109G6
I must update the clock; change some of the pictures to more recent builds, especially some Blitz ones.
Back to work; between 02.00 and 03.00 I painted RLM02 in the wheel wells and Humbrol 27 grey on the top;
I worked on another model for a while and just before 05.00 that grey was dry so it got a second coat;
Now we're flying; once thats dry the next grey is acrylic, which of course dries faster. Disruptive camo on the wings and top of the fuselage, blotches on the sides, but I then have to mask to put a large green band and a thinner yellow band round the fuselage and yellow under the wing tips.

Re: Fred's Final Foray; Another 109G6
Another hour or so worked on this. The second grey is on and a bit of mottle on the sides. Canopy on, frames hand painted [need tidied] Areas masked for the green stripe and yellow markings. As usual I use gloss orange as undercoat for the yellow.
This kit needs gun barrels showing on the cowling and aileron balance weights. I might do them, or I might not. We'll see how it goes.
I'll put some yellow paint on it now, then take a rest.
See ya'all later

When I painted the yellow I also glossed the wings and tail ready for the decals; masking off
An hour of fettling, decaling, matt varnish.......and its done;
The glamour photos;
Notice that the Slovak National Uprising Tri Dubry marking doesn't follow the normal [or regulation] Czech orientation.
