Fred's Folly; an Austin 7 **Finished**

Post by fredk »

Less than 24 hours left and I start this; A vintage Austin 7 white metal kit. 4mm scale, or HO/OO, or 'railway' scale

Started at 23.35 30th.

Thanks to super glue and a good metal file, most is together and all parts have a primer coat of matt black, which can dry when I'm away tomorrow.

I don't know what time I'll be back in tomorrow, but I'll plan to try and have about two hours to put the gloss paint on this.

Bravo! If I didn't have work in the morning. I'd join you for one last attempt. Also, I'm pretty sure I've depleted my stash of Blitz kits.

Got home at a reasonable time. After a rest I got painting.

Gloss black on the wings, front axle and radiator surround, windscreen frame and headlamps. A very dark grey was mixed for the seats and interior and the tyres, this was lightened for the roof boot. Then midnight blue on the body work;

I'll need to cut some clear packaging for the glass for the windscreen.

I'm making this one to ressemble this one from my car club;

This is in a very dark blue, much too dark for the model.

I need to let the gloss paint harden a bit, then its final assembly time.
I've got 3 hours yet, hopefully I can do it.

All done;

The glamour photos;

The flash light shows up the edge of the clear plastic windscreen, its actually not noticeable. I scraped the edges of the wings back to metal, just like the real one. One of the rear tyres has a nick out of it. I put it to the bottom. It wont be noticed when this goes into a planned diorama.

To put the size of this in context; here it is with the Airfix 1/76 Sherman and a 1/76 RAF officer figure;

Somehow the word "cute" comes to mind. Nice little model.

Thanks chaps, :beer:
Thats the competition number for the driver. Our club races our cars. This car will be going into a diorama with others depicting one of our events. On the photo of the real one you can just see the comp numbers on the front wings.

Bloke in our street has an Austin Ruby. Pretty little thing.
