Thanks Stu. I got a wings on last night and again the fit was perfect and I am yet to use any filler.

Then I hit the first issue:

Image

This is supposed to be a small air intake on the spine which obviously sits too high.
Moments after this image was taken I grabbed the part with some tweezers intending to sand down the underside when 'PING'.
Off it flew to feed the carpet monster.
Looked all over but can't find it so it looks like I will have to make a new one. At least I have the image to work off.

Might have to add a couple of these to the stash based on your experiences so far OT.

I would highly recommend it Tom. The only problem so far was with the rear fuselage but that was all down to me not fitting the engine in blast-eyed!

I have spent a bit of time making the new air intake on top of the spine but I managed to make something approaching the real thing. It may get a big more sanding to blend it in once its dry. There are a lot of little antenna to fit plus 'Gun gas deflector plates' that simply butt join to the fuselage. All quite fiddly but no dramas. You can also pose all the air-brakes open or closed. Mine will be closed as it will be on the ground.

I fitted the U\C legs just to be sure that I had put enough weight in.

I was very relieved.

All the aerials and things seem to be a little on the chunky side and need blending in. On the positive side I can hold them with my fingers which makes them much easier to attach. I have also fitted the front part of the canopy ready for masking and closing up.

I now need to spend some time with a little fillet hear and there but not too soon before this gets a primer coat.

It's coming on nicely OT. Certainly a kit to take note of.

Pure fluke Toby. :ha: I have made not of the F-13 interior colour as I have one in the stash.

Definitely worth a go if you can get one cheap enough. Although I did note that R.V.Aircraft have released their MiG-21bis in a simple (weekend) edition. I see more 'Bizness' in my future. (Did you see what I did there?)

Well the Honeymoon period for this kit is definitely over.

All the small parts (and there are a lot!) are fighting me all the way. Everything seems to be just a little over-sized so requires filling and sanding to blend it in.
Nothing too onerous but enough to slow the whole process down to a crawl. Still, I managed to mask & attach the canopy yesterday.

Image

As an example of what I am talking about the front part of the canopy was a perfect fit whilst the rear is just a little too long and sits proud of the spine.
I don't know if I should remove it before sanding or just blend it in? Either way this is kicking in my Mojo!

There are still a few more small parts to fit but I hope to get them on tonight and prime this thing.

This build is definitely a '1 step forwards, 2 steps back' kind of deal. This was where I was yesterday afternoon, all primed and starting work on the missiles..

Image

Before that I solved one question. Can anyone guess what this part is for?

Image

I will tell you. Fitting the missile pylons! For the inner pylons there are locating holes - all very conventional. 8-)
For the outer pylons however you have to use this little device (without gluing it :???: ) like so:

Image

What's wrong with locating pins I ask you? :frown:

Anyway I got them installed and sprayed the coat of primer on. Not too bad just a couple of areas needing attention but that step at the back of the canopy has to be sorted.
So off with the canopy. In the process I managed to break off the small antennae and gouge a great big gash along the side when the craft knife slipped.

Image

So I have bunged some filler in it and put the whole thing to one side before it hits the wall. I am not enjoying this. :boom:
