Thanks chaps, it's been a slog but we're nearly there. As for resin conversion, I may have said this before but I have one from Balatoi Models (got it from Lonewulf Models), which is meant for the Academy MIG-23S kit. Going to give it a go once this one is done, not sure though if either the resin set or Lonewulf are still around.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

That'll be interesting to see Marky. I'm short of a 2-seat -23 in the Mig stash and I'm not too keen on the Art kit anymore....for some reason

R.V. Aircraft do one but it's pricey:
http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/RVA72027

Although KP (Kopro) have just release R.V.'s MiG-23MF as an injection moulded kit with the resin & etched brass replaced in plastic.
http://www.kovozavody.cz/en/produkt/mig-23mf/
Petr from AZmodel\Admiral\KP says that they are going to release the whole family so it may be worth waiting.
Not for the novice though judging by reviews of the RV kit.

Or there is the Neomega conversion:

The RV one is a little pricey for me but I might be able to stretch to it sometime. Christmas isn't that far away!! (oops, used the C word!!).
Anyway, the progress on the one I have....
Image
Wheel bays closed and gaps filled it. Made a small fram on the lower half and filled it with PVA. Once that was dry I applied someImage filler ( ) and it's nearly there.

Sometimes a naff kit will kill the mojo, but keep it up Marky, you're really horsing a dead Flogger! :-D

Nearly there. Decal time. There are only four specifically for the Cuban option, however...
Image
One side is okay (above) but the other....
Image
Oh dear, this kit just keeps on giving... problems!. On the plus side I have started the resin conversion set with the Academy MIG-23. Just to correct my earlier info, the resin conversion set is from BALATON not Balatoi Modell.
Image
There are twelve pieces:- 2 seats, two nose/fuselage halves, one nose-wheel bay 'top', two control sticks, two IP's, one cockpit tub, one fuselage spine and one vac-form canopy. Even a dry fit without removing the pouring plugs showed this is a top notch job. It fitted without removing the plugs and took about ten minutes to clean all these plugs off and make the parts ready for use. Art Model take note!..

That conversion set looks like the bees knees Marky but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. I am quite tempted by the Neomega kit though as I already have the correct donor kit in the stash.

It seems like I'm a salesman for them but it only keeps making me glad to have got the set. It fits really well and hasn't caused problems so far, most things are probably down to my rush building of it! (darn GB!!!). I have used a little filler along the seams but I think that's normal for some resin stuff too. Detail is okay not stunning but the cockpit of the -23 isn't spacious anyway so you won't see a lot anyhow.
OT: That's the set!, I got mine through Lonewulf Models, they are still going but Balaton don't seem to be listed on the website.

Okay, apart from a few touch-ups on the base inscription, we're done. Thankfully.
Image
And the base. The smaller raised area is where I made the original base then realised I had cut it short and the plane would topple over, so I made another to the correct length!.Image
And an appropriate inscription, inspired by the stated individual!..
Image
On a plus note the Academy/Balaton MIG is coming along massively better than the Art Model one did. The wings and fuselage top are painted to avoid 'wing sticking when painting' syndrome!. This one will be East German Air Force.
