OOH....NICE!

I haven't got a 2-seat -23 so I'll be watching with interest....and an eye on eBay ;-)

Thanks, always liked the MIG-23, but the two seater seems to have a nice shape to it. I also have a resin conversion set (can't remember who by now), to convert the Academy MIG-23S but I'll tackle this one first.

Got started last night. Mainly on the cockpit at the moment. Resin seats so some cutting of the base plate. Going slowly but have painted the seats. Pics later.

Okay. The cockpit work mentioned earlier is not as successful as hoped. If you use part 4 which is the front undercarriage bay, and glue the seats to it as indicated.. neither of them fit into the cockpit openings. At least not at the same time!!. The bay has only one place to fit so the rear seat is too far forward. Removed the front one and moved it forward a few mm but this still didn't mean both seats were in the right place. Removed both and glued the uc bay into place alone. The seats will go in later, almost thought of making a small platform for them but we shall see.

Sir T;- this is 'my sort it out' effort. I have added a balsa wood block to support the rear seat, it should, according to the instructions, go onto the grey block in front of the balsa. If you do that it will not only be too far forward but it will tip backwards. No good for the back seater!!. So I came up with this...

It's THAT kind of kit. Limited run kits usually offer this kind of "interesting" construction challenge. Well done on getting it sorted 8-)

Thanks chaps. Yes, Dazzled you certainly right there. See below...

Not so bad from that view but from this one....

Gaps a plenty!!. I also think the model is slightly 'shallow' in height but it will have to do. Plus, although there is a beautiful resin jet pipe there are problems here too. The thing does not fit without leaving gaps down the side of the rear fuselage!. I've sanded and filed and only reduced the gap slightly but it is enough to work with. Will show when the tape comes off!!. I also had to take some amount off of the side and top of the resin seats to get the front fuselage to close up and to get the canopy on.
I do have another kit and a conversion set so might try that and see how that goes/compares.

On the bright side Marky, it is Flogger-shaped. Better fire up the cement mixer though ;-)
