You have done a brilliant job detailing this kit. I need to get one. I built the Italeri years ago, what a nightmare that kit was.
representative WW2 Soviet colours which as you may know is a modelling forum minefield
I don't follow any "serious" modeling forums any more, but is Erik Pilawskii still out there? I once collaborated with him, but any discussion he was a part of tended to be more of a flamethrower battle than a minefield.

Hi,

I have been doing a bit of weathering on the MiG-3.

Nothing too onerous just a filter wash with oils and some weathering with pastels and a bit of oil paint streaking. I think white is a difficult colour to keep pristine on a combat aircraft and the Soviets and the current Russian Airforce have a tradition of leaving aircraft outdoors in all weathers. With that in ming I've gone for a used look but not too grubby..

It's not far to finish it off now it just needs the prop and wheels..

Nice work. I'm a big fan of weathering. Not one for showroom condition models.

Thank you for the nice comments..

In between work on my BoB GB project I have done a bit more work on the MiG-3

I added the Prop painting the spinner a nice red colour and then painting the prop in Alclad Semi matt Aluminium with some anti glare panels in good old NATO black which i took to with a sharp implement to add a bit of wear on the leading edge of the prop to simulate wear and tear.

The Red Spinner add a good bit to the look of the model I think..
