This is GB for ship-based naval aircraft; please note the distinction, it must have operated off a ship regularly for at least part of its career. Other than that, any era, kit, scale, markings, etc.

This GB started from a thread here.

The GB runs from August 1st to 31st; your GBL is Martin R who will fill in any other info.

Hi folks, Martin R here. Just to add to John's words above, there was a discussion on the thread about whether particular land-based examples of aircraft types that have "operated off a ship regularly for part of [their] career" are allowed. The answer is, in principle, yes, eg RAF operated Buccs would be allowed because of the FAA operated examples. If anyone has any specific questions, then I'll do my best to answer them.

And me with an Airfix / Otaki / Arii 1/48th Scale Hellcat Mk I. I've got a bit of after-market for it. If I get a chance, I'll also do a Hasegawa 1/72 SBD-6 Dauntless as I don't have any Slow But Deadlies in the cabinet as of yet.

regards,

Martin

I've been a bit of a USN kick this year, so I'm in.

Not 100% sure but it'll probably be a 1/72 Hasegawa F9F-2 Panther and a Matchbox 1/72 F9F-4 Panther dual build.

Cheers

Stuart

I've got so many options I'm spoilt for choice. Might go for a DH jet

The Monogram 1/48 A4E Skyhawk for me. The 'Blue Angels' kit has alternate decals for a tartan-tailed VA-46 Scooter flown by John McCain, but I'm hoping to change that to the a/c of Lt. Dave Dollarhide, an ex member of the squadron with whom I have corresponded (pre-internet days) about markings etc.

Sign me up :-D

I have just picked up a 1/72 Mister Craft Army Lynx kit for £5.99

Image

To my surprise the box contains parts for both the British Army, Royal Marines and a Royal Naval wheel version, but only decals for the Skid Versions.

So my plan will be to do a Blue or Grey Mk2 or 3 using spare decals out of my stash.

Get that man his coat and show him the way out.
Don't give up the day job PT.

Nice one Splash. I do like the Lynx, one of my favourite helicopters. Never saw enough of them in N.I. though.

I am planning to think about possibly participating

I have the Hasegawa SOC-3 floatplane with Starfighter resin cockpit, Yellow Wings decals, and a White Ensign USN catapult to mount it on .... The latter is photo-etch and white metal.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Reporting for GB.
Thread with the kit tonight, I am still musing which one will go to the choppers. I think I have too many kits and not enough greycells :)
