Re: Sign-up and Chat
I have one in my stash and it looks like a brilliant kit.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
Re: Sign-up and Chat
Well, if it arrives in plenty time and I get to build it, I'll let you know!

Re: Sign-up and Chat
After a quick start over at the MiG GB I can see myself being able to finish 2 models before the end of the month so I'd like to put forward my entry to this GB.
1/72 Hasegawa Royal Navy Harrier GR.3.
The full story of why the Navy had a GR.3 will be posted over in the build thread.

As long as it meets the criteria given in the first post of this thread, you'll be most welcome.

Hiya Martin, upon further research it appears that the GR.3 was only ever based at RNAS Yeovilton(HMS Heron) and never actually operated from the deck of a Carrier.Martin R wrote:Hi Mav,Maverick231 wrote:''. . . so I'd like to put forward my entry to this GB.

So I will instead be building the old tool 1/72 Airfix A-4 Skyhawk.

I was giving this some thought after you mentioned it. My first thought was that, although the GR3 ("type" not particular aircraft) operated off carriers during the Falklands War, this may be the justification. I was then wondering whether this was enough to say the type operated "regularly from a ship", and thinking not (cf Splash's Chinook suggestion). Then I thought a bit further and remembered that the USMC operated AV8As from ships regularly. Could the AV8A be considered a variant of the Harrier GR 3? Aren't they both just modded versions of the GR1? However, if you're sold on the Scooter, then it matters not one way or another! Have fun!

Re: Sign-up and Chat
So two weeks in and Toby is our first finisher, with a lovely weathered "Jill".
There's also some great work on display by Lancfan and Gadfly and JRatz to pick just three. Feel free to drop in and leave comments on others' threads.
I wonder who'll be next to finish . . . ?
regards,
Martin

Re: Sign-up and Chat
Apologies for not starting. I'm really, really tied up preparing a load of stuff for a special Summer Fair at Carrickfergus Castle this Saturday, 22nd. Normally my group are the invited show, but this year we've taken over the complete organisation of it.
I'll try to blitz a couple of kits next week, from the 23rd onwards.
I really want to get my Buccaneer done in this, and maybe a Devastator too.

No apologies necessary, Fred. If you can get your Bucc done, great; if you can't, the world won't end.fredk wrote:Apologies for not starting. Re: Sign-up and Chat
Another apology; I really wanted to take part in this but I don't think I'll get a kit done in the time left [unless there's a couple of days extension ]
I had hoped to start last Wednesday but had to go off during the day/evening and a then re-planned start on Thursday was set away as I spent several hours Wednesday/Thursday night in a crashed van, getting mild hypothermia, which I've just about recovered now from. [no-one was hurt in the crash]

CAG to PT, you are Number 1 to trap. GB will remain open for business for an extra 24, repeat 24 hours.Purplethistle wrote:Purplethistle calling CAG, am inbound ETA 24 hours, request GB remains on recovery course for stragglers to trap. PT out.
