Splash's Lynx ***DNF***

This is a bit of an odd ball kit having originated in I think Poland.

The kit comes with extra parts including parts for the British Arm's Skid version and the RN Version with wheels and the different nose. The quality of the parts are similar to that of a short run kit something like Amodel would make.

According to Scalemates it's a rebox of a 1972 Frog kit..

Nice kit - does it come with the TOW launchers and sight for the Army Lynx?

They have it wrong this is nothing like the old Frog kit. This is the same as the Polish ZTS PLASTYK range of Lynx kits.

Strangely NO, you do get the sight according to the instructions but not TOW, you get two RPG pods and a large round TV pod, plus two types of torpedo's. Looking at the different sets of ZTS PLASTYK Lynx's that are available one of them does come with TOW launchers, one version comes with the TV pod, another comes in the all white UN forces markings and they do several Naval Versions showing on the box art it firing Anti Ship Missiles, but I don't think you get them in the box

ZTS PLASTYK did re-box the Frog Spawn version of the old Frog Lynx kit, I think this can be identified by looking at the cabin doors if it has three window its the old kit as this was modelled on the WG13 (Lynx prototype) The current kit is their own design.

The reviews I have read say, cheap and cheerful, poor instructions and decals, good for war games as the kit is robust when built.

At the price my expectations' aren't high, so if it finishes up looking anything like a Lynx it will be a bonus :-D

Any one with an interest in Fleet Air Arm a/c might find the Xtradecal X72108 sheet of decals useful.

The sheet covers a/c from 815 NAS and includes swordfish, albacore, fulmar, avenger, gannet, Wessex and lynx HAS 2/3/8.

work has started, the kits plastic is the soft type not unlike Amodels and the sprue gates are large and need gutting with a saw, flash is light to moderate but not a problem.

The part fit is OK but not what I would call good as there are no locating pegs, it will need filler but not to much, photos to follow.

I might have to review my comments on part fit and filler requirements

Time will tell.

The transparencies are thick and not that clear, a coat of Klear has improved it slightly but this was never going to be a competition build and the lack of cockpit detail would defeat the point of making a vac form canopy.

Splash, you cannot treat this kit any other way than a therapy build :). And so far you are winning :)
