Yes a wingless Jill would be a non starter. Montex do a canopy masking set and I'm in the process of putting it on now.SteveC wrote:Glad you managed to save the wings, not much of an aircraft without them!
I have one of these to build, and after having taken ages to mask the compound curves of the P51 canopy, suddenly all those straight lines don't seem quite so bad
I hope the rest of the build progresses smoothly.

As I have this kit to build, can I just ask, was the problem only due to fatigue, or was it a problem fit?

Good news!TobyC wrote:Martin, I have managed to save it. Fortunately the glue hadn't completely hardened and I was able to reset the top and bottom surfaces without too much damage.

Re: Toby's Japanese Jill
After my blunder I had to add a small fillet of plasticard to get the wings to sit right against the fuselage
I then sprayed on dayglo red followed by yellow for the leading edge flashes.

I've put a base coat of aluminium on before I spray the AK chipping medium prior to the green so I can give it some weathering

Re: Toby's Japanese Jill
That is coming along very nicely. What did you use to paint the Aluminium finish?

Nose and decals on..well nearly all of them . The port side roundel is missing as it broke up and the spares I have are the wrong size so have ordered a sheet of them from Hannants.
