Ju-86P-1 of 2 (F) Aufkl, Gr. Ob.d.L., Oranienburg, Germany, summer of 1940. Tested over
Britain during the BoB to spot for new targets and assess damage. It was unarmed as it flew so
high at 12,500m it was immune from interception by aircraft at the time. Only intercepted by a
later mark Spitfire flying at high altitude when they were used over North Africa a few years later:

Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane MkI, released to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
No. 87 Squadron, flown by Flt. Lt. Ian Richard (Widge) Gleed, R.A.F., Exeter, August 1940
Sadly, having risen to the rank of Wing commander, he was killed in action on 16 April 1943, aged 26.
